Random Game of Thrones sketches. It’s Arya Stark and Jon Snow! I miss reading a book and being its screaming fan, so I’m really happy that I got to read and watch George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones and the rest of A Song of Ice and Fire. The prose tends to teeter onto the purplish side (Those Medieval cliches! And teats, for crying out loud.) but the story and the characters are sublime and painfully, painfully human. What I love about it is everyone is flawed, it is grounded to the point that it feels suspiciously like home, and unexpected things happen to your favorite characters. I’ve finished A Storm of Swords, and yes I was completely devastated when I read the RW - to elicit that kind of reaction from your reader is powerful stuff. Anyway, here’s two of my faves. I want to draw Tyrion but fail - my love for Tyrion Lannister is unfathomable because he’s everything I want to be if I would go by my looks. I scrapped my drawings of Daenerys because she is so beautiful and fierce and the sketches do no justice. I love all the Starks, and if I were born in Westeros I would definitely be a Stark - I am honorable to the point of stupidity. (Also, direwolves - your argument is invalid.) Jon Snow does things to my feelings (Ygritte chapters, hnnnnggg). If you haven’t seen the HBO series, please do. The writing is better, and it’s by far the most faithful book-to-visual-media adaptation I’ve seen (that includes LOTR). Also, a flawless cast ensemble. Watch it!
